Our honest take

Chromebooks are cheap and simple. But the product is you - Chrome OS is built around Google's data collection. TUXEDO and Slimbook cost more upfront, but they are assembled in Europe, run Linux without a mandatory Google account, and let you upgrade RAM and storage. If you use a Chromebook for web browsing and documents, Linux does that just fine. The real question is whether the price difference matters more than who controls your data.
